kayak-ing

i learned to kayak yesterday. (although...the guy in the picture isn't me. he is dave. i'll be honest, i thought it was just a sport for outdoor fanatics but it was a really great time. you have to wear a helmet and sometimes you think you're going to drown but it's still pretty enjoyable.anyways, the recent weddings are coming soon so check back.

amber + dave

well, back from a crazy trip. three weddings and 2000 miles in one week. ohio-jersey-new york.
i'm just now getting to my blog posts but i think it's worth the wait. these past few weddings have been some of my coolest so far.
so: getting caught up. my first wedding of the week was in Ohio. i was blessed to be able to photograph dave and amber tying the knot. they're two really cool people and they were so easy to photograph. thanks to dave and amber for the amazing photos. i think a few of these will definitely find their way into my portfolio!

new number.

Hey hey. To anyone who needs to reach me, my new number is 803.341.8857
I switched providers recently and I can't tell you how much of a pain in the arse it was. 4 days of sitting on hold and dealing with supreme incompetence. I know there are times in my life when I was angrier but I really can't remember when.
I tried to keep my old number but it just wasn't in the cards. SO. New number. Make a note.

ascent music.

i had the pleasure of shooting these 4 sisters when i was in michigan last week. what a sweet group of girls!!
we had a couple hours to walk around Michigan State University and we came up with some really cool locations.
I hope you enjoy the images.
By the way: I've been doing incredibly well with keeping up with the blog...so...I think that deserves a little bit of credit. Hopefully enough credit to let me coast for this next week. I'm heading up to Pittsburgh to photograph and ordination then 'm going on a little road-trip with a couple of my buddies. A bachelor party of sorts. ...except none of the weird stuff. Just some camping and sight seeing. So...I should have some good photos for you guys in about a week.

kristen + bryan

here's an example of a wedding where everything goes smoothly. wonderful people who are very in love. they get married on a beautiful day with some of their best friends. wonderful food, fireworks that put any 4th of July celebration to shame, dancing, and a grand exit with 2 foot tall sparklers.
not a bad way to celebrate two people coming together.
kristen and bryan: best of luck to you both! i hope you love your pictures as much as i do!

you have to love these summertime/atlanta weddings. right after the ceremony i found the whole wedding party camped out in this giant refrigerator.

yes. these are real fireworks.

north star gazing

i had to wake sarah up when i saw the stars last night. this is a 16 minute exposure off of the dock at sarah's parent's house in Michigan. pretty amazing night. i saw about 6 shooting stars while i was taking this picture but i didn't get one in the photo :(
next time.

pit stop

sarah and i made the long arduous trek from south carolina to michigan for an exciting and completely non-stressful week of wedding planning. it's only a 14 hour drive but with a puppy you have to make a few extra stops. this is behind a gas station somewhere in ...virginia? i think? i don't know where it is.

gretchen.

this is gretchen. she's german. she's got short hair. she points.
(german short-haired pointer) sarah got me a really sweet puppy for my birthday.
one of the best gifts i could ever get. she's the gift that keeps on giving. i wake up in the middle of the night...cleaning up poop and puddles. buuuuttt....she is pretty cute.

love & marriage

i'm engaged. yup, i'm getting married. so...i'll be needing a photographer.
yee-haw! (this actually isn't new news i just haven't posted it yet. sorry about keeping everyone in the dark :)
sarah + tim then...little sarahs and tims running around. happily. ever. after.

veronica and rafael

these two people had the most sincere and moving vows that I've ever heard. the words were the same words that everyone uses but because of who they are and the commitment that they have to eachother the depth of their ceremony was really touching. they are very amazing people.
i tried something a little different with the way I edited this wedding. these images aren't the bright colorful ones I usually present. I thought I'd try something kind of 'antique' this time. i hope you enjoy them.

wow.

it's been so long since my last post i almost don't remember how to blog.
so...getting back into it: Diana and Jim
Diana, Jim, Sarah, and I got up at the crack of dawn a few weeks back to take some photographs for their engagement.
I'm not sure how much Jim liked having his picture taken but he hung in there like a champ. God bless you guys!

mary ellen + joe

hey guys. here are a few photos from an engagement shoot i did with maryellen and joe this past weekend. pretty crappy day in steubenville. it actually started to rain on us in the last photograph. but, the pictures turned out great anyways. joe and maryellen's love shines through in every image.

camille

Let me introduce you to America's next top model! camille is a friend of mine who's building a portfolio. as you can see, she's great in front of the camera and she was a lot of fun to work with. hope you like some of the shots.

day off in St. Lucia

Well, I'm just getting around to posting some of the shots from my day of R&R (rest and relaxation for the lay-person) in St. Lucia two weeks ago. I spent most of my time in the water but I did snap a few shots of the island.

tom + allison

What an incredible trip. Weddings are always a great celebration but it's not every day you get to shoot a wedding on a tropical island in the middle of winter. thanks to tom and allison for getting me out of the cold for a few great days. they are an awesome couple and their love for eachother is pretty moving. they both cried throughout the entire ceremony! it's definitely inspiring to meet such 'real' people.
enjoy the photos.

allison's mom helping her with her dress

amazing view from allison's room.

one of the 100 or so emotional moments during the ceremony

the first dance.

the party got even crazier when all of the waiters and cooks started dancing.

tom + allison (cocktail party)

I just got back from Tom and Allison's incredible wedding in the Virgin Islands on BEAUTIFUL St. Lucia. Here are a couple of the photos from the party the night before the wedding. Drinks on the roof of Jade Mountain Resort (breathtaking) which overlooked the Carribean, a tropical rainforest, an amazing sunset, and two mountains that St. Lucia is known for; the "Pitons".
Here's a shot of one of the resort's many infinity pools

The two mountains on the left are the historical, monumental, beautiful, and steep, Pitons.

Just another sunset on a tropical island in paradise. pretty standard stuff.
